Be greeted at the airport by your enthusiastic guides and taken to your hotel to rest up before the evening's Welcome Meal. We then jump straight to it the next day by heading straight to the river Sun Koshi. One of the most famous rivers in Nepal boasting the largest commercially run rapid in Nepal too!
Expedition rafting is one of the most enjoyable and sometimes challenging things you can do. Spend your days meandering down the river sunbathing and relaxing on the flat sections. Then come the rapids! Hold tight and listen carefully to make sure you get down the roller coaster without falling out! Team work is essential as you set up your camp - everyone has a role! From unloading the raft, setting ups the tents, collecting firewood, washing up, to simply relaxing and enjoying the moment.
You will travel from the centre of Nepal all the way to the far eastern corner on the boarder of India! This means that the landscape will change day by day as you move out of the Himalayan foot hills to the Teri lowlands. Keep an eye out as you are likely to see some fantastic wildlife from moneys, parrots, or even a leopard! Spend the evenings sharing stories, telling jokes, and eating good food. Sleep out under the stars and gaze up as they rotate around you. Build fires to cook on and keep warm by. We take overnight transport back to Kathmandu at the end point of our river journey.
Once back in Kathmandu we will take part in a stunning day tour. Kathmandu is an area that combines natural heritage and cultural experiences. Enjoy visits to city squares, magnificent temples and take in outstanding panoramic views of mountains and cityscapes. Let our guides teach you the history of this ancient city with their in-depth knowledge and enthusiasm. In the evening we shall all sit down together for our Farewell Meal to say a final good bye before you head home.

Travel to Sun Koshi and start Rafting!
Leave Kathmandu early in the morning to the start of the river (approx. 3 hours). When we arrive watch the guides spring into action unloading all the gear and pumping up the rafts – they would appreciate a hand though too! After lunch there will be a safety briefing before we jump on the river and start the expedition. The river starts off easy here will some class 2 rapids. We might even be able to stop off at a local Hindu temple to bless the trip, if you are lucky. We will be camping on a river beach, spend the evening relaxing under the stars.
Rafting the Sun Koshi
Once we’ve had breakfast and packed up camp, we continue our way downstream. The river starts to increase in volume as the Tamba Kosi joins. Today gets more exciting as we pass through more notable rapids such as “No Exit” and “Meatgrinder”. There are some flat sections too – these are great for trying some cliff jumping! In the evening we set up camp and then have some free time. There are plenty of things to do from simply relaxing, exploring the area, or even learn to kayak and give rolling a try!
Rafting the Sun Koshi
Wake to a boiled Kettle and food ready to be eaten. The river keeps on getting bigger and bigger as more tributaries keep joining the Sun Koshi. The main event today is just after the Liku Khola joins and created the Anxiety series of rapids: Pre, Post, and High Anxiety! Again there will be plenty of time to enjoy the flatter sections of warm water. Here you can have a go a kayaking and learn some key skills about reading the water and safely making your way across the river. Once camp is set up we can enjoy a game of football with the locals who will probably stay for a sing song around the camp fire and watch the sun go down.
Rafting the Sun Koshi
This is it, the day you’ve all been waiting for – Hakapur! The biggest commercially rafted rapid in Nepal! We will stop before the rapid to look at it to decide how to approach. Depending on river levels the rafts might have to walk round the first section as it may be un-runnable. But if it is – get ready for the craziest roller coaster of your life, and you will defiantly get wet! Gather your thoughts quickly as you are swiftly swept into Hakapur 2, sometimes even better than the first! Tonight we will camp by a very special river – the Dudh Kodi. This is the river that runs off Everest.
Day 7 – 10
Rafting the Sun Koshi
In the coming few days you can expect "Jaws" I, II & III' , "Rhino Rock" and “Jungle Corridor” which is basically 10km of non-stop rapid with big bouncy waves finished off with "Rollacoaster" which if you are in the mood is a safe place for us to flip the raft! A highlight of these days is the big impressive waterfall we will stop at for a well deserved shower.
The "Big Dipper" and "Black Hole" are the last big rapids on the river and a fitting finale to the Sun Kosi. You will notice the difference in scenery as the jungle dissapears along with the mountains making way for the flat Indian Plains. For those that dare, you may also have to opportunity to jump off a 30ft bridge into the river below and depending on the water levels.
Just after the confluence of the Arun and Tamur rivers we will stop at a Holy Hindu temple to view the sights. After this it is a quick 20 minute flat paddle to the take out, Chatra, where we will unload the gear one final time and jump in our bus/plane back to Kathmandu. We will go to a local hotel for dal bhat before the long journey home.
Travel back to Kathmandu and free time
After 15 hours on the overnight bus, we should arrive back in Kathmandu early in the morning. We will undoubtedly need some time to wash, rest, and relax. Today you shall have some free time in the morning exploring Thamel and all the fantastic and bazar shops. For those who fancy, we shall take a walk to Dhurba square to go and visit the old Palace. Unfortunately it has had some extensive damage due to the recent Earthquake but it is no less fascinating!
Drive to Pokhara
Get up in the morning and make sure you have everything packed for heading out to Pokhara. The drive will take most of the day (approx 9am-4pm depending on traffic). We will stop for lunch and breaks along the way to stretch our legs. It is always worth keeping an eye out of window to gaze at the wonders Nepal has to offer. Once you arrive in Pokhara you'll have a chance to freshen and rest up before, maybe even explore a bit of lakeside, before you are taken to one of our favorite restaurant and bars for a chilled evening.
The morning is free time to sleep in or explore Lakeside. Make sure you are back at the hotel for 11am when we set off through the Himalayan foothills to Sirubari. The drive takes about 4 hours through stunning scenery that requires 4x4 for particular sections. Upon arrival you will be greeted by our Nepalese hosts before being shown to your home-stays. Enjoy the evening by walking around the village, interacting with the locals, or having a beer at the local shop.
You will spend the day exploring the local area. Hike (approx. 4 hours of walking) to the top of a mountain to see the panoramic views of the Annapurna Mountains or visit the Yogies - monks that live on top of the mountain. We will return to wash, rest up, and get ready for the main event - the Cultural Evening. The whole village turns out to enjoy a night of singing and dancing. You are encouraged to join in - you'll regret it if you don't!
Travel back to Pokhara and rest
Get up in the morning for a farewell ceremony where you say goodbye to your hosts and sign their visitor's book. Depending on how you are feeling, you have the option to join the luggage in the 4x4 all the way back to Pokhara or you can take a trekking experience like no other! Walk along the valley side to a saddle on the mountain ridge. Cross the saddle and head back down what seems like the steepest staircase in the world! When you reach the valley floor you'll be greeted by one of our vehicles so that you can rest your jelly legs and be driven the rest of the way (this trek is approx. 4 hours). We shall have a chilled evening in Pokhara eating out at a restaurant and staying in a hotel.
Pokhara Day Tour
Wake in the dark (approx. 5:30am) to be driven up to the top of Sarangkot. Here we wait to marvel at the stunning Annapurna Sunrise. The mountains are etched into the sky before being blasted into colour as the sun starts to rise. We'll hike down to Lakeside for breakfast. The day will be spent touring round Pokhara. Visiting the World Peace Pagoda, padding across Fewa Lake, and visiting temples. Have some free time in the evening to go shopping, enjoy a Spa, or explore Lakeside.
