The classic river for rafting in the Himalayas.

The Trisuli has something for everyone - big rapids, chill-out flat sections, and awesome beach camps.

The Trisuli is the beating heart of Nepal’s rafting. Where the industry started and today is still one of Nepal’s most popular rivers. Its large rapids are balanced out by other easier sections. Local legend has it that the god Shiva drove his trident into the ground to create three springs high up in the Himalayan Mountains - the source of the river - hence the name 'Tri-suli'.

The get on for this river is about 3 hours out of Kathamandu, on a stunning mountain drive! Once on the river, you are taken downstream by big volume water. The chilled float along is often interrupted by exciting rapids such as ‘Upset’, ‘Surprise’ and ‘Ladies Delight’ just to name a few. There are plenty of scenic views as you travel down an impressive gorge and pass terraces with villagers busy at work.

Family whitewater rafting trip in Nepal

The Trisuli has mostly grade 3 rapids with some grade 4. But it is a pool-drop river which means there is plenty of time to chill out, play, do some cliff jumps, swim, and soak up the surreal atmosphere of Nepal’s River life. With it also being just a stone’s throw away from Kathmandu, makes it a perfect river to start on and warm up for your multi-river trip.

The second day on this river, if you are doing a 2 day journey, is much more relaxed than the first. There are some rapids, but it is much more of a float along until we get off for lunch. This allows you time to have some fun in a kayak or even learn to guide the raft!
